How to choose the right coffee?
There are a variety of coffees out there, and sometimes it’s not easy to know which one to choose. Arabica or Robusta, rather full-bodied or light, or even ground coffee, beans or pods? Quite a few questions that we can ask ourselves, and which we will answer in this article! Find here our explanations, advice and opinions in order to choose your coffee!
The importance of choosing your coffee carefully!
It is important to choose your coffee carefully, there are so many possibilities that you could quickly be disappointed if you choose just anything. Before talking about the different types of coffee, you should know that there are two main categories: Arabica coffee and Robusta coffee. The former is known for its mild taste while the latter has a more pronounced flavor. If you’re not sure which type of coffee you prefer, maybe try both for a while so you don’t waste money on something you’ll never drink again!
Arabica coffee
The most famous blends based on this variety are Colombian or Brazilian coffees. You can also find other less common varieties like Costa Rican coffee or even Jamaican Blue Mountain. As far as we are concerned, this is definitely our favorite choice as it is a really light coffee with a typical mild taste.
If you prefer strong coffee, we recommend choosing the Brazilian blend as it is a little stronger than Colombian coffee!
Robusta coffee
For those who like stronger flavors, Robusta coffee might be right for them as it has a much stronger flavor and contains less caffeine than Arabica. So it’s perfect if you want to give your metabolism a boost during the day without feeling too jittery. So it’s perfect if you want to give your metabolism a boost during the day without feeling too jittery. It also makes excellent espresso, so why not try it? If it’s not strength you’re looking for, but rather something different from traditional filtered or Americano coffees – which are quite acidic – then choosing a robusta blend might be worth it!
What are the criteria for choosing a good coffee?
There are many criteria to consider when choosing a coffee shop, so let’s take a look at them!
The first thing you need to know about coffee is that the most exported coffee comes from Latin America. So if you want to try something new and exotic with your coffee, why not choose one of these coffees?
Another important factor when choosing a coffee is its country of origin. This can be tricky as some countries do not necessarily produce good quality products or are not what they claim on their label... This may happen more often with international brands that sell blended products in order to compensate for poor quality beans with others… But that doesn’t mean all international brands are like this.
Then you have to check the grade of the coffee. It is often written in numbers, from 0 to 100 and refers to the size of the coffee bean! In general, the bigger it is, the more expensive it will be… And if you’re wondering how we get such large beans? Simply by drying them for longer than usual, which makes them grow up to twice their normal size! The higher this grade – 90 or more being very rare – the tastier and smoother your coffee will be! But there are of course exceptions, like Arabica coffee beans which perform well even though they fall under lower grades.
Finally, we have another criterion: whether our coffee has been decaffeinated or not. If so, the chemical solvents used must follow strict rules and be safe for coffee. Alternatively, caffeine can also be removed by treatment with carbon dioxide or water!
Now that you know everything about coffee grading and how to choose your coffee based on its origin, flavor or decaffeination process, let’s drink it now!
How do I enjoy my coffee properly?
Now that you know more about coffee but especially about the choice to make based on all the criteria, it’s time to move on to tasting! Indeed, even if you have good coffee, if you don’t know how to taste it it ruins everything! To drink your coffee you need the coffee machine, the coffee grinder and a good coffee cup!
You must first heat your water to around 95°C by boiling it. Then you put ground coffee into the filter of the coffee maker – depending on how much coffee you want to drink, but usually one spoon per cup is enough – before pouring in the hot water… And that’s it!
You’re ready for a great espresso or americano with crema! The longer you wait after this point, however, the bitterer the taste of your coffee will become. So don’t wait too long if it’s not what you like! As for lattes, such as cappuccinos or lattes, they are prepared using steam injected under pressure into cold water.
